A message from our Chief Fire Officer ahead of the King’s Coronation

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer, Chris Lowther, has today paid tribute to HM King Charles III ahead of the Coronation weekend.

Many TWFRS staff will also be on duty in the coming days and Chief Fire Officer Lowther has taken this opportunity to also praise their commitment to keeping communities safe.

He said: “On the weekend of His Majesty’s coronation, all of us at Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service want to wish King Charles III a long and prosperous reign.

“The emergency services will always have a close relationship with the Royal Family and we appreciate everything they do for our country.

“This coronation weekend will be an historic occasion and we will be involved in the celebrations of the coming days.

“But many of our staff and volunteers will be on duty this weekend to keep you safe, supporting and responding to emergencies.

“We thank them for their service and hope that communities across Tyne and Wear can mark this historic event in a safe and responsible manner.”

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service hope you have a wonderful coronation weekend and that you don’t require our services in the coming days.

But if you do, we are on duty and we will be there when you need us. Remember, in an emergency, always dial 999.
