Current and retired employees of Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service enjoy regular sports and social events, from the annual Hadrian Hike Challenge Walk to sightseeing trips abroad.
We’re proud that our Fire Family is diverse and inclusive, with networks that provide support for our employees and promote fairness for all.
Staff, volunteers, cadets and the public can contact members of the networks, in confidence, with any questions or concerns related to equality issues.
Our networks include:
- Gender Network
- Disability Network – DNG@twfire.gov.uk
- Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Network
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender + Network – firstname.lastname@example.org
Network members often represent us at community events like Pride and Newcastle Mela.
Our employees have access to 2 pension schemes, depending on their roles.
Firefighter Pension Scheme
The pension scheme for our firefighters and other operational employees is administered through the West Yorkshire Pension Fund.
Local Government Pension Scheme
Pensions for our corporate employees are managed through the Tyne and Wear Pension Fund, which is administered by South Tyneside Council.
The Old Hand newsletter
