New Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service website launched

The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service website has been replaced this week.

Our new site is designed to have a clean and modern look and feel, with plenty of white space. This makes it easier for people with visual impairments and dyslexia to read the site content.

Tony Markwell, Area Manager for Strategy and Performance, explained:

“We recognise the importance of making our information easy for all members of the public to access.

The way that people use the internet has changed and as our previous site was not compatible with mobile phones, it was no longer fit for purpose.

I’d encourage everyone who visits the new site to let us know what they think, so that we can continue to improve it.”

Our Corporate Communications Team has been working with other teams across the service to review and improve our previous web content before moving it over to the new site. Now that the new site is live, we will continue to work with community groups and our staff diversity networks to make sure that the content is accessible as it can be.

As well as news, corporate publications and business safety information, the new site provides important safety advice for members of the public.
