Queens Medal for Karen Soady

Watch Manager Karen Soady has been awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service, in the 2018 New Year Honours. Karen as a tireless servant for our community, in particular her work with the fire cadets, her work to strengthen inclusivity and the drive and energy she has used to champion our Safe and Well visits.

This is a much deserved recognition for Karen, who exemplifies the best attributes common to all who work for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

On Karen’s recognition by The Queen, Minister for Policing and the Fire Service Nick Hurd said:

“The Queen’s Fire Service Medal recognises outstanding devotion to duty and Karen Soady has exhibited this throughout her service to Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service. She has shown commitment and dedication across a range of roles, including as Watch Manager, as a volunteer with the fire cadets and her work promoting inclusivity and diversity.”
