A message of thanks from our Chief Fire Officer to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Platinum Jubilee

The Chief Fire Officer of Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service has today paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Platinum Jubilee.

Today the celebrations marking Her Majesty’s 70 year reign will begin and the Service has extended their thanks to Her Majesty for her lifetime of service.

Not only has she been a dedicated public servant since her coronation, but she is also a patron of the Firefighter’s Charity and a big supporter of the Service.

Today, our Chief Fire Officer Chris Lowther personally thanked Her Majesty for all she has done for the country.

He said: “All of us at Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service want to offer our whole-hearted thanks to Her Majesty for 70 years of dedicated Service.

“Her Majesty has always put public duty first and as public servants ourselves, that is something we can relate to.

“The emergency services will always have a close relationship with the Royal Family and we appreciate the support shown to us during her rein.

“I have a great deal of respect for everything she has achieved and we are looking forward to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with our communities.

“Many of our officers and staff will be on duty this weekend and working hard to keep you safe and respond to emergencies.

“But this is a significant time in UK history and today we will all find the time to reflect and celebrate Her Majesty’s service.”
