Alex has worked in control for just over 2 years and is currently a Temporary Crew Manager. She has worked for the Fire and Rescue Service for 5 years. She has always had an interest in working for the Fire and Rescue Service and once she achieved a post in the Service she was made aware of all the different opportunities available to her. She decided that a career in Control sounded rewarding and challenging.
She received 4 weeks initial training and was then assigned to her Watch where she receives ongoing training to keep her skills and knowledge up to date. To complete your training in the role you have to gain an NVQ which takes 2 years.
Alex enjoys her job working with a team, especially when it’s very busy. She finds it very rewarding being able to help members of the public.
