Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service is launching a series of media factsheets to explain more about the specialist services, equipment and people we provide.
The Service puts out fires, rescues people from road traffic collisions and other incidents, deals with major floods and works hard to prevent fires from happening in the first place. We have a range of specialist equipment and specially trained people to help us do this. The new factsheets are designed to help the media better understand our capabilities and to be used as a reliable source of information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The first three factsheets in the series include: general information about Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, our locations and key staff; our swift water rescue team and equipment; and our specialist resilience equipment for use in the event of a major incident.
The factsheets will be updated quarterly.
