Arson Task Force: Sunderland

The Sunderland Arson Task Force team are based at Sunderland Central Fire Station and have been actively involved in the reduction of deliberate fires within the authority since 2000.

The team consists of Fire Officer Ian Gicquel, Police Officer Garry Davidson and Team Member Ross Hall:

Watch Manager Ian Gicquel
I have served with Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue Service since 2002. I joined the Arson Task Force in October 2006. My main role is to oversee the arson prevention work carried out, including boarding up, vehicle removal and refuse removal. I am also a trained fire investigator which allows me to identify causes of deliberate and unusual fires.

DC Garry Davidson
I have been a Detective Constable with the Arson Task Force since July 2006. I have a multi-role within the Arson Task Force. Firstly that of liaison between the Police and Fire Service in cases of deliberate fires and secondly, to assist investigating officers with fire investigations. Also I develop strategies and operations, to target problem areas in line with the problem-solving model adopted by Northumbria Police.

Team Member Ross Hall
I have worked for the Arson Task Force since September 2005. My role involves representing the Arson Task Force at meetings and disseminating information throughout the service and community groups. I liaise with the other agency partners and collate information on deliberate fire statistics to identify hotspot areas. I also support the other team members by creating leaflets, presentations and other literature.
