Arson Task Force: Gateshead
The Gateshead Arson Task Force team are based at Gateshead Community Fire Station and have been actively involved in the reduction of deliberate fires within the Authority since May 2004. The team consists of Fire Officer Dave Barnes, Police Officer Steve Tait and Team Member Lorraine Atkinson: Watch Manager Dave Barnes I have served with Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue Service since 1992 and joined the Arson Task Force in May 2005. My main role is to oversee the arson prevention work carried out, including boarding up, vehicle removal and refuse removal. I am also a trained fire investigator which allows me to identify causes of deliberate and unusual fires. DC Steve Tait I have been a Detective Constable with the Arson Task Force since October 2004. I have a multi-role within the Arson Task Force. Firstly that of liaison between the Police and Fire Service in cases of deliberate fires and secondly, to assist investigating officers with fire investigations. Also I develop strategies and operations, to target problem areas in line with the problem-solving model adopted by Northumbria Police. Team Member Lorraine Atkinson I have worked for the Arson Task Force since August 2003. My role involves representing the Arson Task Force at meetings and disseminating information throughout the service and community groups. I liaise with the other agency partners and collate information on deliberate fire statistics to identify hotspot areas. I also support the other team members by creating leaflets, presentations and other literature. Help us to make Gateshead a safer place to live by informing us of any concerns you have. |
