Community Fire Stations

Station Q - Sunderland

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service are in partnership with John Laing the construction company under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.

We have recently built six new community fire stations as well as a new headquarters and Technical Services building. The total cost of the projects is in excess of £32 million which was completed in 2006, and provides an exciting and modern resource for the Fire Service and the communities of Tyne and Wear.

The new community Fire stations are located in:

  •  Sunderland

  •  Washington

  •  Gateshead

  •  Swalwell

  •  Byker

  •  Newcastle Central

  •  Tynemouth

and provide the Community with the highest standards of Fire Safety and fire fighting services available.

The stations are a valuable asset to the local community providing drop in facilities for Fire Safety advice and in time, will provide full media facilities and meeting rooms which will be available to the public.

The new Stations along side existing facilities will go along way to achieving the Fire Service’s vision Statement of "Creating the Safest Community".
