Our purpose built Training and Development Centre located at Barmston Mere in Washington is self-contained within an eight-acre site.

The site consists of: -

The main building has two storeys which includes: -

  • 6 lecture rooms (two of which can be converted into one large conference room with seating for over 80 delegates);

  • A full equipped IT training room

  • Multi-media studio incorporating an edit suite,

  • 1 large reception/buffet lounge

  • A restaurant with seating for over 85 people is provided in our headquarters building

  • Locker room facilities for 36 male students/32 female students

  • Utilities including laundry, kit room, muster bay, drying room, and cloakroom 

  • This building is serviced by a central glass stairwell with two lifts for disabled access


The large fireground has the following training simulations

  • An LPG fuelled, 20 seat aircraft fuselage/LPG storage, fire simulator
  • A 23 metre steel pylon for high level rope rescue and scenario training
  • Compartment fire simulators. The container system provides real fire conditions, using carbonaceous materials
  • Two full size railway carriages and tunnel
  • A two storey training house with attic and integral stone staircases
  • A six storey tower with rope rescue training facilities;
  • A fire bund with integral intercepter.

Breathing Apparatus Training Centre

The Breathing Apparatus Training Centre (BATC) is of two storeys which incorporates:

  • 2 large lecture rooms

  • 2 ‘hot’ debriefing rooms

  • Servicing area and workshop for up to 30 BA sets

  • Utilities including laundry room, kit room, muster bay, drying room

  • One reception/rest room

  • Locker rooms for male and female students

 

The two ‘hot fire’ structures include:

Building one:

Linked to the BATC is a three-storey hot fire building. This building provides hot fire capability on ground and first floor, with the remainder utilising heat and cosmetic smoke systems. Within the building, various conditions can be simulated such as domestic fires, confined space scenarios etc.

Building two: 

A three-storey multi purpose building with many options available to the traininers.  The main uses are as; a ship with double bottoms, prop shaft, engine room etc, a passenfer/car ferry, high rise building complete with lift shaft, domestic accommodation/offices. masionettes, etc.

The incident ground is also provided with a large six bay garage that includes a briefing room. The garage is bounded by a wash down and fuel delivery bay with integral interceptor, a ship/dockside simulator and 500,000 litre capacity water pool.

USAR a suite of USAR training facilities which incorporates:

 

  • Multi-function and multi storey rigs
  • Floodable basement
  • Lecture room

Incident Command Suite

Purpose built to incorporate Hydra, Minerva and Vector simulation systems which allow the opportunity to experience and practice critical decision making in a safe immersive environment and comprises:

  • A plenary / lecture room
  • 4 syndicate "pod" rooms
  • A fixed command support unit room
