New Names for Tyne and Wear Community Fire Stations

To provide consistency throughout the Service and to support the introduction of national callsigns, the names of Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service's community fire stations (CFS) will change from July 1st 2009. 

The new names, listed below, also clearly illustrate the local authority area in which the stations serve.

Gateshead

• Swalwell becomes Gateshead North Community Fire Station at Swalwell

• Gateshead becomes Gateshead East Community Fire Station at Shipcote

• Birtley becomes Gateshead South Community Fire Station at Birtley

• Chopwell becomes Gateshead West Community Fire Station at Chopwell

Newcastle

• Gosforth becomes Newcastle North Community Fire Station at Gosforth

• Fossway becomes Newcastle East Community Fire Station at Byker

• Colby Court becomes Newcastle South Community Fire Station at Rye Hill

• West Denton becomes Newcastle West Community Fire Station at West Denton

North Tyneside

• Tynemouth becomes North Tyneside East Community Fire Station at North Shields

• Wallsend becomes North Tyneside South Community Fire Station at Wallsend

South Tyneside

• South Shields becomes South Tyneside East Community Fire Station at South Shields

• Hebburn becomes South Tyneside West Community Fire Station at Hebburn

Sunderland

• Fulwell becomes Sunderland North Community Fire Station at Fulwell

• Railway Row becomes Sunderland East Community Fire Station at Millfield

• Rainton Bridge becomes Sunderland South Community Fire Station at Rainton Bridge

• Washington becomes Sunderland West Community Fire Station at Washington

• Northmoor becomes Sunderland Central Community Fire Station at Farringdon
