TWFRS Employees attend Manchester Pride

 

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service have a commitment to Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) people. Recognised as an employer of choice through a number of initiatives including being a Stonewall Diversity Champion and entering the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index.

 

Employee Advisory Group 

Purpose

The purpose of the Employee Advisory Group (EAG) is to ensure that the organisation demonstrates its commitment to reflecting the community it serves and the people it employs.

 

The EAG comprises a range of staff with different remits from across the organisation who work together to develop service policies and procedures and drive forward engagement initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion for LGB people.

Aims

To support all lesbian, gay and bi-sexual (LGB) and other members of the organisation, through providing services that are reflective of their needs and the needs of the wider community we serve.

Objectives

  • To ensure all new/revised policies and procedures reflect the needs of LGB employees and associated members

  • To facilitate the development of a support network for LGB employees and associated members

  • To improve the position of TWFRS within the Workplace Equality Index to ensure we are inclusive for LGB people

  • To adopt local, regional and national guidance and practice within all policy decisions made by the Advisory Group

  • To provide support and guidance ensuring effective community engagement

  • To ensure that all staff are offered guidance and support in relation to LGB issues

In the Community

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service have a number of community fire stations right across the area and these stations have community rooms which can be used by LGB community groups.
